Sun & Shadow

Here is a place of temporary sound, innocence, doubt, and curiosity. These are gifts to ourselves, but you are welcome to sit a while and stare, shake your head, and wander away. Here we will post pieces of poetry we like, quotations, audio bites, video clips, and quirky images that evoke a mood or make us laugh. It’s a big blank canvas of possibility.

About a Daisy

What? A Daisy, you say? a world standing on isolated stilt–

tufted sunshine button, but don’t push! it holds a delicate white tasseled rug beneath that mustn’t shift lest it disturb a busy visitor restless to gain in weight and value for his queen who sits elsewhere, uncaring and secure

Loving the Emerald Isle

On the Sun & Shadow pages you may find a live link floating out in space, seemingly disconnected from its surroundings. If you click the link, you will reach out to catch a voice, offering the listener a jewel for the mind, heart, and soul.

Like a child hearing from a loving but disappointed parent about what needs changed, this audio clip reveals how a loving God views our rebellion.

long pier reaching out into sunset
a place I want to be, buffeted by breezes, kissed by tide confetti
cabin on a lake with reflection
if you are very quiet, you can hear the loons calling

So by now you may have noticed that this is not a typical blog and it’s not really a gardening blog at all. You may even feel cheated, deceived, or bamboozled. I can’t say I am truly sorry because I did this purposefully…to see if anyone was paying attention. Congratulations! You were paying attention. Keep it up. Your prize is a fuller, richer, more vibrant and connected life. You’re welcome.

We pour ourselves out onto our worlds through words, captured images and sounds that entice our hearts, allowing us to take tiny journeys away from our here…to where our spirits knock on heaven’s door. Thank you for joining us for a few minutes of your own life. We hope you will take a seed of grace or gratitude with you as you move on.
